Exfoliation of Scalp for healthier and shinier hair

Exfoliation is the process of removal of old skin cells and supply of new skin cells. Even though it occurs naturally, at times body needs help in exfoliation.

Clogged follicles lead to hair loss thus scalp cleansing is important for happy healthy hair.

What are the benefits of scalp exfoliation?

It has many scalp health benefits including:

  1. Controlling dandruff
  2. Increases blood circulation to the hair follicles and deliver supplemental nutrients to rejuvenate the scalp and ensure healthy hair.
  3. Remove build-up that hamper hair growth.
  4. Exfoliation can restore moisture and balance a dry scalp.

However, avoid exfoliating your scalp if you have:

  • seborrheic dermatitis
  • psoriasis
  • acne
  • eczema
  • an active infection, such as ringworm
  • an open cut or sore
  • lice

Exfoliation improves blood flow which enhances the absorption of skincare products and collagen production increases. But if overdone, scrubs such as walnut scrubs, can lead to scarring, worsening of acne, to infection, and pigmentation.

Do I need a hair scrub?

If you are a product junkie and load your hair with was, sprays, oil and dry shampoo, then shampoo may not be enough to wash these products away.

If your hair texture is fine, then you may be more prone to build up on your scalp.

What type of scrub should I use?

There are majorly two types of scrubs: Physical and chemical

  • Physical use grains to scrub away the build up and are for flaky, dirt, or dandruff prone scalp.
  • Chemical scrubs use active ingredients and are best for removal of dead skin cells and flaking. They fight against excess sebum production and promote cell turnover process.

With that being said, we hope you love our secret to a healthy scalp that ensure healthy hair growth.
